Auburn calls itself the loveliest village on the Plains, and on a football Saturday the village part is literal: the whole town fits around the campus, the campus fits around the stadium, and by kickoff there is no distinction between any of them. It's the rare place where 88,000 people can feel like a small town's family reunion.
The Mascot
Auburn is the school with two identities and zero confusion about it: the team is the Tigers, the battle cry is 'War Eagle,' and both are non-negotiable. Before home games a live golden eagle circles Jordan-Hare in total silence — tens of thousands of people holding their breath — until it lands at midfield and the place detonates. It's the best thirty seconds in college football that doesn't involve a ball.
The Saturday
Win, and everyone in town walks to Toomer's Corner to roll the oak trees with toilet paper until the intersection looks like a snowstorm hit it. The tradition is sacred enough that when the original oaks were poisoned by a rival fan, it made national news and the man went to jail. New oaks stand there now, and they get rolled all the same.
What to Wear
Our vintage Auburn line puts an original hand-drawn tiger — ours, not the athletic department's — on garment-dyed tees and embroidered navy-and-orange rope caps. It's the look for a Toomer's lemonade in one hand and a roll of toilet paper in the other, just in case. Start with the Auburn Quarterback Tee, the golfer rope hat and all Auburn gear.
